What's required to apply as a RENTGURU tenant

Choose to become Fully Pre-approved at the on-set or only do the Application after a successful property viewing.

Required documents and information to be uploaded digitally:

ID Document: Mandatory upload of a South African ID for initial viewing requests.
Proof of income, three months bank statements, proof of current residential address.
Current address and landlord or agent details for reference.
Tenant Profile Information
Application Fee: A non-refundable application fee (R250.00 incl. VAT for personal / R450.00 incl. VAT for company) is payable before application submission.

TENANTS MONTHLY USAGE IS FREE

We provide our core services to tenants at no monthly cost. You only pay for specific, one-time services when you need them.

System Usage and Management: Free!

Enjoy all the benefits of the RentGuru platform, including direct communication with your landlord, maintenance reporting, and access to your lease documents and payment history, completely free of charge.

Application Fee for a Natural Person: R250 (incl. VAT) once-off

When you apply for a property, this fee covers the cost of your credit check and application reference checks. We believe in transparency, so we'll provide you with a copy of your report.

Application Fee for a Company: R450 (incl. VAT) once-off

When you apply for a property, this fee covers the cost of a juristic person's complete application including credit and reference checks.

Initial Lease Fee: R550 (incl. VAT)

This is a once-off fee, lower than the industry standard, charged when you sign your first lease agreement through our platform.

Lease Renewal Fee: R350 (incl. VAT)

When it's time to renew your lease, a small fee will be charged for the new agreement.
